Beauty in Shadow

“I thought the most beautiful thing in the world must be shadow.”
― Sylvia Plath, The Bell Jar

When I walked in for the first time I was absolutely mesmerized by the shadow cast by the Cleveland Museum of Art's new Atrium. This ultra modern structure is instantly made classical and timeless by the artfully painted shadow. The atrium, whose purpose is to connect the old structure with the new structure, shines as the perfect portal. It's enormity is warmed by darkness and lightness, sending you happily to the past or the future.  The choice is yours.

  1. Great b&w captures.
Shadows echo the architect's vision - very cool indeed.

  2. Such a great collection of images. Geometry. Shadow. Light. Intersections. All so fabulously displayed here.
